The author of nearly 30 books and articles, Samir Hazboun has served as a member of the Aix Group Steering Committee since its inception as well as the Director of the DATA Center for Studies and Research since 1997. Dr. Hazboun was a West Bank expert to the World Bank in 1995 and in 1997 he served in a similar capacity to UNESCO, helping them assemble their Economic Development profile for the Bethlehem district. Dr. Hazboun has also assisted ILO, UNCTAD, UNIDO, and HABITAT as a part-time expert. Over the last 27 years, he has held top academic appointments at Al-Quds University and Birzeit University, where he served as Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Economics. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Economics form the University of Prague.
